Not so seeker-friendly

Nu 1-20 My kids love the song about the twelve spies--"ten were bad and two were good!" What God does with His people doesn't fit very well w/ a church growth plan. He smites the spies who are fearful and unwilling to press forward in the face of opposition. He opens up the ground to swallow Korah and his followers who rebel against Moses. He promises the land of Cannan to the Israelite's children--after the parents die off.
He's saying in essence, I'm in charge here; trust me; do it my way. And when we don't, there are consequences.
Maybe that church growth model needs some rethinking?
