Pet Peeves

I'm sure we all have many but some of mine are girls who feel their lives are meaningless until they get married/have children and adults who act like children. It's wonderful to want to be a wife and mother but God can use you as a single woman, a childless woman, and as a widow. Whatever role God gives you is the best one for you, is worthwhile and shouldn't be despised. Every role has certain challenges and certain blessings. Single people have more freedom to give to God of their time and their money and their service. God is their spouse, their one priority. The church family uniquely is the family of those who don't have children or a spouse. Furthermore, pining for what we don't have keeps us from enjoying and making the most of what we do have.
As for adults who act like children, I don't mean they have childlike imagination, enthusiasm, inhibition: I mean they're petty. They fail to be able and willing to view the world though anyone else's eyes, won't play if it's not their way, won't be rational or realistic. Argh. My kids' temper tantrums and stubborness are exhausting enough. My childish pursuits? Feeling sorry for myself and feeling superior, wanting to be superior.
