Ruth

This book is a beautiful love story. But it's atypical as a love story in that it's about many different kinds of love.
Ruth loves Naomi's God and she loves Naomi. She is a faithful servant to her mother-in-law.
Boaz loves God and serves Ruth.
Ruth and Boaz are two very giving people who have the privilege of being in the line of Christ.
A love for God results in loves and service for others. And a love for God revealed in serving others enables us to be part of God's work in the world.
This story is so triumphantly different from the many OT records of repeately sinful individuals.
One thing that very much seems to set Ruth and Boaz apart from others is a beautiful unselfishness. They are like I Cor. 13 love incarnate and what a commendation! God Himself is Love. He was at work in them.
I want Him to be at work in me.
